About Us
Owner and Holster Maker: Justin Whitten
Justin is a Christian, husband, father, and law enforcement officer born and raised in North Alabama. He has been in law enforcement for eight years, serving as a K9 officer, tactical medical instructor, and diver. On August 27, 2019, Justin began making kydex holsters as a hobby and quickly found a gap in the market. While there are some great holster companies, many of their products seem bulky or heavy. Justin got to work designing a slimmer and simpler option to allow for true concealment. After four and a half years of making holsters for friends, family, and coworkers, it was time to turn his hobby into a legitimate business.
Co-Owner and Social Media Specialist: Ryan Wells
Ryan, like Justin, is a Christian, husband, father, and law enforcement officer. Raised as a military brat, Ryan lived all over the United States. He moved to Alabama for college and started a family. Ryan has been in law enforcement for five years, serving as a SWAT Operator and Sniper.
How It Started
Justin and Ryan met when Ryan was in field training as a new officer. The two hit it off when Ryan made a foolish error during training. From that point on, they became great friends. Their friendship was further strengthened when they both served on the dive team after trying out together. Although their time on the dive team was short-lived due to pursuing other endeavors such as SWAT and K9, the bond had been made. Naturally, when Justin decided to turn his holster-making hobby into a business, he contacted Ryan to make it happen.
Justin and his wife have a motivational saying: “What happens when water and hot magnesium come in contact?” The answer is they have a chemical reaction. This saying was shared to remind each other that, no matter what, they could do something special when they came together. This saying paved the way for "Atomic Concealment" to be chosen as the business name. The logo, showcasing "AC" for "Atomic Concealment," is placed in a box to simulate an element on the periodic table. In the top left corner is a 12 for two reasons: 1) It is the scientific number for magnesium, and 2) As a nod to the term for police, since both Justin and Ryan are law enforcement officers.
Continuing with the theme of Magnesium and Water, our non-light-bearing holsters will be called H20’s for water, and the light-bearing holsters will be called MG12’s for magnesium. We want to be transparent that although the owners are law enforcement officers, this does not mean we provide specialized treatment to Military or Police. We believe that the front line of our community is the men and women who daily exercise their God-given right to carry a firearm.
